Windpoint Lighthouse - Racine, WI
Wind Point lighthouse is located in the Village of Wind Point in Racine County. It stands 108 feet tall and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was lit for the first time in 1880, and continues to be a beacon of light to ships on Lake Michigan to this day. The lighthouse is actually open for tours one Sunday per month, and by special reservation. Check their website for further information for tours, and property rentals as well. On any given day, the views here of Lake Michigan are lovely! There are picnic tables, benches, and a beach area for use. No lifeguards are on site, so swim at your own risk. In winter there are breathtaking views of ice caves along the shore. Frigid beauty, indeed.
