manchester hill park - muskego, wi
I keep finding community parks to explore in the Muskego area. Last week I found my way to Manchester Hill Park in Muskego. The 15-acre park, in the north central area of the city, was developed in 1995. The park includes soccer fields, a picnic area, rentable shelter, a pond, walking trail, and a small wooded area. In winter the frozen pond is used as an ice skating rink. There is a children's play area near the north side parking lot entrance.
Two acres of native prairie vegetation grow adjacent to the pond on the north side. The south side of the pond features 3 acres of woodland, and 2 acres of wetlands. The walking trail is a mowed pedestrian path that circles the pond. With the recent warmer weather the snow along the trail has melted, though it is rather wet and muddy in parts. Red-winged Blackbirds, Chickadees, Song Sparrows, and Robins could be seen and heard calling from the surrounding trees. No doubt this is a lovely park come springtime.
