Maywood Environmental Park - Sheboygan, WI
We were looking to spend a little time in nature in-between a wedding and reception. Maywood was the perfect choice.
It was a beautiful early spring Saturday, and Maywood did not disappoint. At 135 acres, this environmental park offers 5 miles of trails among prairie, maple and pine forests, ponds, and wetlands along the Pigeon River corridor. The park also features an ecology center, arboretum, hummingbird and butterfly garden, and great bird watching. The day we were there we saw several early spring migrants, deer, and a frog or two. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing are offered in winter months.
Maywood also hosts several educational programs for all ages throughout the year, in addition to summer camps, school programs, and a variety of workshops in varied interests.
