White River County Park - Walworth County
We made our first visit to White River County Park on a warm Saturday this March. Song Sparrows were dipping in the river. A sure sign of spring. The coming spring migration season is sure to bring many more songbirds. Lots of deer tracks dot the walking trails, and two newly installed bridges cross the river at two separate points, making it possible to explore more of the park.
The park opened in July, 2014. With nearly 200 acres and two miles of frontage along the White River, the development of this park will feature walking trails (almost five miles already developed) cross country skiing, a canoe/kayak launch, picnicking, fishing, hunting and trapping (by permit only). Some of the additional amenities planned include additional trails, a sledding hill, gardens, restored prairies, park shelters and a nature center.
Location: 6503 Sheridan Springs Rd, Lyons Township, WI (Walworth County)
