Garrison's Glen - Mequon, WI
We visited Garrison's Glen for the first time several years ago. The preserve is 22 acres, and is one of the "Treasures of Oz", managed by the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust. It was established in 2006, and is named for Garrison Adams, a former student at Donges Bay School.
If you're into bird watching, you'll want to check out this eBird hot spot. Between the native prairie, surrounding woodlands, and the nearby Milwaukee River, it attracts a wide variety of avian species. Although it can be a bit muddy after heavy rains, the mowed walking trails circling the area are wide, and easy going. Perfect for an afternoon stroll.
To the west of the Glen is a spot along the Milwaukee River with a canoe/kayak launch.
Parking is available both in front of Garrison's Glen, and in a separate lot next door for the canoe/kayak launch.
Fees: None
Hours: Daily, 6am - 10 pm
Dogs permitted on-leash, and must be cleaned up after.
Location: 2231 W. Pioneer Road, Mequon, WI (Ozaukee County)
