Newell and Ann Meyer Nature Preserve - Eagle, WI
Newell and Ann Meyer donated this land to The Nature Conservancy to establish a nature sanctuary in southeastern Wisconsin.
Located within the Mukwonago River Watershed, this 374 acre preserve features oak savanna, woodlands, wetlands, and springs, and is home to 60 endangered species.
It's also a prominent birding area, especially during spring and fall migration. It's a popular spot for Sandhill Cranes in the spring. The preserve has a three-mile hiking trail, and offers space for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter months. It's easy to see why the Meyer's found the land so enchanting. Thanks to their generosity, we get to be enchanted, too.
Hours: Open Daily
Parking: Parking just inside the entrance driveway.
Location: S104W38319 WI-67, Eagle, WI (Waukesha County)
