Downtown Waupaca Parks - Waupaca, WI
On a recent trip to Hartman Creek State Park, I decided to take a slight detour and explore some of the parks in downtown Waupaca. On a short walk around the charming downtown, I visited four parks. They include a waterfall and nature trail area, a riverside family park and picnic area, a blooming garden in a small historic park, and a sweet sanctuary of a park behind the local senior center. All were scenic and peaceful. If you're in the area, or will be visiting the area, pick one and enjoy a bit of nature while you peruse the city.

WAUPACA FALLS - North side of Water Street, west of Elm Street. Hours: 6am - 10pm. Part of the River Ridge Trail
The Waupaca River flows through the downtown area. You can view the peak of the falls from the bridge along Water Street.

There's a small square, with a kiosk that features some of the historic information of the falls. A short distance from the waterfall, past the park square, you will find the boardwalk entrance to the River Ridge Trail - a 1.6-mile loop along the river.

This little nook of a park, just off School Street, has a short walking trail, a boardwalk, benches to rest on, a picnic spot, and quiet views of the river.
