Baxter's Hollow - Sauk City, WI
Baxter's Hollow is The Nature Conservancy's largest preserve in the state of Wisconsin. Located south of Wisconsin Dells, this preserve features untouched wilderness, deep forest, a wild creek that runs throughout, birds, wildflowers, butterflies, and incredible color in every season. When I made my first visit we discovered the bridge on the roadway in had collapsed, so vehicles could not travel through. However, the trek can still be made on foot, and is more than worth the effort. In fact, the lack of traffic on the road in adds that much more to the beauty and enjoyment of such a wild and peaceful place.
