Cedarburg Bog - Saukville, WI
The Cedarburg Bog is the most intact bog in the state of Wisconsin. It was designated a State Natural Area in 1952. Here you will find cedar-tamarack swamp forest, in addition to marshes, shrub carrs, swamp hardwoods, and both deep and shallow bog lakes.
It's widely know as an important bird area.
There are a few different access points to the bog. One access point is via the UWM Field Station on Blue Goose Road. Permission is required to enter this location, or, attend one of the bog events for guided tours featuring plant life, bird life, and more. Another access point, along Hwy 33 near Newburg, follows a short trailhead with boardwalks leading to a pier on Watts Lake.
