Gordon Tabor Woods - Caledonia, WI

The Caledonia Conservancy has been actively committed to preserving lands in Caledonia since 1994.  Gordon Tabor Memorial Woods is one of 18 preserves and trails in this Racine County community. How fortunate for us nature lovers!  My sister lives near the preserve, and I was surprised that I had never noticed it before.  In fact, she was not aware of it either.  It is hidden off a residential area, but easy to find.

The walking trails are marked with educational signs, as they host a children's "school to nature" program here.  We walked about 1.5 miles and didn't cover the entire woods. In addition to the walking trails, there are horse riding trails here as well, along with designated space to park your horse trailer.  

On the day we visited early this spring, the trails were muddy, but well marked, the creek was flowing, and early spring flowers were in bloom. There are plenty of spots to relax and take in the view, and do some bird watching.  I'm looking forward to getting back soon. I expect fall will be resplendent here.
