Lion's park - new berlin, wi
This 40-acre City of New Berlin park appeals to the birder in me. With two ponds, one at the south end of the park, another on the north end, you will find lots of Red-winged Blackbirds here. The southern pond is surrounded by cattails and trees. A walking trail weaves along the pond and connects with the paved walking path through the park. Here you will find sparrows, chickadees, finches, robins, grackles, and, during migration season, passing-through warblers and other songbirds.
The pond at the north end, surrounded by trees, offers fishing, and a quiet spot for taking in some fresh air and a scenic view. Turtles can be seen sunning themselves on logs in the pond, while geese and ducks swim by.
The park offers many sports-oriented spaces for: baseball, basketball, tennis, horseshoe, volleyball, and soccer. Two picnic shelters with restrooms are available for rental May-September.
Location: 14900 W. Overland Trail, New Berlin (Waukesha County)
