Swan Park - Beaver Dam, WI
Swan Park is a hub of activity in the heart of Beaver Dam. At 10.5 acres, it was the first named park in Beaver Dam in 1906, when the property was purchased from local entrepreneur Dr. George Swan. It took until 1915 for the initial restoration of the park, developed for use by the citizens of Beaver Dam and the surrounding area. Between 1915 and 1940 numerous additions were made to the park, including a wading pool, outdoor shelters, a bandstand, and stone bridges. Music programs and events are often hosted at the bandshell.
Presently, the park has a multitude of amenities available to all. Easy paved walking paths traverse the park and its features such as: a children's play area, a summer splash pad for the kids, a wading pool, basketball court, volleyball court, four lighted horseshoe courts, and several rentable shelters, including the historic Springhouse. The springhouse was originally built in the late 1800's. A restoration of the shelter is in progress.
During the holiday season, the local Rotary Club sponsors holiday lighting displays throughout the park.
