Richfield Historical Park - Richfield, WI
Richfield Historical Park is a great combination of nature trails and Wisconsin history. The Historical park covers 33 acres, and the adjacent Nature park is at 92 acres. Several historic buildings on site include: Lillicrapp House, Mill, Horse Shed, Woodshed, Barn, Cabin, Granary, and a Blacksmith shop. The inside of these buildings can be toured during special events held throughout the year. For a calendar of events, click here. There is generally an admission for these events.
The Richfield Historical Society also hosts monthly events September through May, generally held on the 4th Thursday of each month. There is not a charge to attend, but donations are accepted. For more details, click here.
The park is open 7:30am to 10:30pm throughout the year. There are walking/nature trails throughout the park, picnic areas, and a deck/lookout area at the southern end of the park. Coney Creek winds through the park. The day I was there one of the bridges was out due to damage, so I could not cross the creek. I'm not sure if it is fixed yet, so best to be aware. I had to backtrack on the trail to get back to the main trail, but it wasn't far.
The best entrance is at the north end of the park off of Pleasant Hill Road. There is plenty of parking, in a few different lots throughout the park.
Buildings in the park are available for rental for weddings and other events, as well as for photos shoots.
For more information on rentals, click here.
If you're interested in local history, attend one of the scheduled events. However, it's a beautiful park to explore any day of the year.
