Stigler Nature Preserve - New Berlin, WI
Stigler Nature Preserve is located right smack in the middle of a New Berlin business park. I'm not sure I even remember how I found it, but I'm glad I did. The trail itself is just over a mile long, and mostly easy going. The paths are mostly cedar chips, and well plotted out. The surroundings are lush and full of green. Lots of trees, a creek flows through the preserve, and there is a meadow on the outskirts of part of the foot path. Not as many birds as I would like to see, but plenty to be heard. I love that this bit of wilderness is nestled among urban development.
I've been back to visit this preserve in all seasons. It's beautiful in every one! Winter here is stunning and quiet. American Robins can often be seen here all winter long. Constant work is being done to the make the trails a wonderful walk, however, they can sometimes be muddy in our flexing climate. That said, don't let a little mud keep you from hitting the trails here.
Location: 170th and W Liberty Ln, New Berlin, WI (Waukesha County)
