ABOUT THEPARKNEXTDOOR
A long time Wisconsin resident, I've traveled near and far. Back in the late 2000's I started to discover, and appreciate, that there is so much beauty here, at home, and near by. Wisconsin offers a bounty of beauty, nature, wildlife, trails and bright blue skies. I wanted to explore that. So, I started searching the web for places to go. And while I found many helpful individual sites, I didn't find any that gave me a visual sampling of a wide variety of the different experiences I could have close to home.
So, I decided to get out my camera, put on my hiking shoes, and start exploring. And with the companionship of my husband, Joe, we began the exploration of our little corner of Wisconsin, and beyond. A few years later, after lots of early adventures, and thousands of photos taken, I decided to create this website, and TheParkNextDoor was born in 2014.
Ten years later, there are over 300 profiles on the website, with plenty more to come. Everything from neighborhood parks with a bit of woodland to escape to, to nature preserves, nature trails, sculpture gardens, historic cemeteries, and Wisconsin's phenomenal state parks and recreation areas. I hope that our adventures will introduce you to new places to explore, or inspire you to give well known, everyday parks a second look.
So put on your walking shoes and visit the green spaces that surround us - where adventure goes local.
