Denoon park - Muskego, WI
On a sunny, mild, November afternoon, I took a drive to Muskego to check out Denoon Park. In operation since 1985, Denoon Park is a 53-acre community park. The park is located along the northwestern shore of Lake Denoon, and includes a public boat launch area. It is named for James Denoon Reymert, an early settler to the area who published the first Norwegian newspaper in the state of Wisconsin.
The park has a wide array of amenities to offer. Situated next to the Lake Denoon Middle School, it features athletic fields: two basketball goals, a baseball/softball diamond, and soccer fields. All within plain view of the school. Beyond that you will find scenic walking trails that traverse the 8 acres of woodlands and prairie within the park. Some of the trails are gravel, some wooden boardwalk and small bridges. The trails wander past residential backyards, and there's plenty of birdwatching in this area.
There is a children's play area, picnic spots, and an open-air shelter (which can be rented). A popular feature here is the 9-hole disc golf course, which is spread out through the park. Snowmobile trails are open in the winter months. There are a couple parking areas, depending on what features you plan to enjoy.
Hours: 5am - 10pm
Parking: On-site
Dogs are permitted on-leash
There is a portable restroom near the last parking lot.
Location: W216 S10798 Crowbar Drive, Muskego, WI (Waukesha County)
