bluhm farm park - muskego, wi
Bluhm Farm Park was once the farm land of German immigrants who cleared and farmed the land here, beginning with their arrival in Muskego in 1863. More than a century later, it became Bluhm Farm Park in 1995.
The 50-acre community park features a multitude of amenities: walking trails; sports fields for softball, baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and even a designated area for golf. The walking trails, partially plowed in winter, include a gravel trail that connects with the city managed recreation trail along the WE Energies Right of Way; along with foot trails through the 16 acres of forest/woodlands.
Prairie vegetation was planted in nearly nine acres of the park, adjacent to the woodlands. A short boardwalk passes through the area as well. I heard a variety of birds singing from the trees on my winter walk here. I expect it to be a great bird watching spot come spring migration.
Other amenities include a children's playground, restrooms, picnic areas, and an open shelter available for rental as well.
Location: S77W13607 McShane Drive, Muskego (Waukesha County)
