Scuppernong Springs Nature Trail - Eagle, WI
A small, but lustrous part of the Southern Kettle Moraine Unit. We took this trail late in the fall on a crisp, cool, but very sunny day. The trails are well plotted out, with some interesting industrial sites along the way. Managed mainly by volunteers, their hard work is evident. Clearly they appreciate the beauty of Scuppernong Springs, and they are passionate about making sure others enjoy it, too.
The trail is particularly great for birding at all times of the year, though spring and fall migration bring the most birds to the area. Part of the trail, leading down to the hot springs looks to me like paradise. Something out of a wilderness fantasy. It's a trail we return to in all seasons.
Hunting is prohibited.
Location: County Road ZZ, Dousman, WI (Waukesha County)
