La Belle Cemetery - Oconomowoc, WI
I've heard about this cemetery for many years. I kept meaning to get out there to take a look around. I'm so glad I finally did. The cemetery was first used in 1862. Oconomowoc Cemetery (on Walnut Street) had become too crowded, so the bodies were moved to La Belle Cemetery grounds. It's a beautiful spot to be laid to rest. It is bordered by Fowler Lake. It's peaceful. Birds are plenty. Old tombstones mingle with new. It is said (like many cemeteries) to be haunted. I can't say I felt anything otherworldly while I was there. However, the views were spectacular.
