harnischfeger park - ixonia, wi
Harnischfeger Park is located in southeastern Dodge County, along the Rock River. At 132-acres, this handsome park includes something for everyone. There are several miles of hiking trails, including an 800-foot boardwalk through wetlands leading to the Rock River. The walk along the river bank is lovely and peaceful. There were lots of migrating birds about when I was there this week.
The park offers lots of space for winter sports, too, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding. There are canoe/kayak rentals in-season, and fishing, of course. They also offer a disc-golf course, volleyball, horseshoes, and even a baseball field. Camping is also available on-site (9 sites, and 1 group site). There is a club house, and picnic shelter rentals available, too.
The park is surrounded by wetlands, so the walking trails can be rather muddy, but they are very scenic. Restrooms and showers are available on-site.
Fees: Daily Entrance is Free Daily Hours: 7am - 8:30pm.
