Fox River Sanctuary - Waukesha
Fox River Sanctuary is 95 acres along the Fox River on the south side of Waukesha. This prime bird-watching spot west of Milwaukee, features mature trees, open meadows, prairie grasses, ponds, a boardwalk, observation platform, and designated lowland areas. Also, on site, is the E.B. Shurts Environmental Education Center.
Nearby trails include the Glacial Drumlin Trail. The City of Waukesha Fox River Recreation Trail head is located at the E.B. Shurts building.
Parking is available in the lot at the E.B. Shurts building, and there is also a small parking lot off of Sunset Drive, adjacent to the boardwalk.
