Engel Conservation Area - Muskego, WI
Engel Conservation Area was recommended to me by a good friend. So, of course, I had to check it out. Turns out it's within 30 minutes of my West Allis home base. Easy to find. The area is 155 acres, including 4 miles of hiking trails, woodlands, wetlands, and prairie. The day my niece and I went there were several hawks flying overhead. In winter, especially, good hiking shoes or boots are a must, as the trails are not groomed. But certainly walk-able. There is parking onsite for up to 16 vehicles, and a portable rest room is available. Scenery like this so close to the city is worth the effort. I'm looking forward to visiting during spring migration, too.
