Pondview Park - Greenfield, WI
Pondview Park is a 6-acre, City of Greenfield Park located along 35th Street. It's a quiet, pleasant park for a walk around two retention ponds. The walking path is pavement, and winds past a charming Gazebo near the main footpath entrance.
On the chilly January day of my first visit, the sun was shining, and snow was lacking. The reed grass and cattails were billowing in the wind along the perimeter of the ponds. I could imagine Red-wing Blackbirds happily chattering and flying about in the ponds come spring. Ducks and geese, too. Today, however, there were plenty of Chickadees, Juncos, and House Sparrows calling back and forth. Even a bright red Cardinal sat regally in one of the trees along the property edge.
The walking path is just under a half-mile for a full trip around the pond, so you'll have to double-up to build up some mileage. But it's an easy walk, and, I imagine, in the warmer months more than lovely. If I lived in the immediate neighborhood, I would definitely make it a regular spot. I'd bring a good book, too, and enjoy one of the park benches.
The entrance to the park starts at 35th Street, and follows a narrow drive past a large residential complex. There is ample parking once you reach the parking lot.
Amenities Available: Gazebo Shelter
Hours: Open Daily
Location: 4210 S. 35th Street, Greenfield, WI (Milwaukee County)
