Elm Grove Village Park - Elm Grove, WI
I've driven by this park many times over the years, but had wrongly assumed it was a tiny little corner park. Little did I know that had I slowed down a bit, I would have seen an entrance that would lead me further into the park and to all its beauty. A friend of mine, Eddee Daniel, told me recently that the park reaches much further back from the road than I had realized. So, of course, I had to check it out. And, well, Eddee was right. What a gorgeous village park!
Elm Grove Village Park is 78 acres, and packs a lot of amenities into this green space. There are two large ponds, surrounded by walking trails that wander past the ponds, over a bridge, through a woodland path. The ponds are ripe for fishing. There are sports fields for just about every sport, a public swimming pool, splash pad, and a playground for the little kids, too. Wildflowers bloom, butterflies float, robins and goldfinches abound. It's a great spot for a little summer evening birdwatching.
Hours: Open daily, 5am - 11pm.
Dogs permitted, on-leash.
Location: 13600 Juneau Blvd., Elm Grove (Milwaukee County)
