Lisbon Community Park - Hartland, WI
Just when I think I've run out of ideas, I scroll across Google Maps, and find someplace new to explore. Lisbon Community Park, located near Hartland, is a 123-acre park that features plenty of nature, along with a multitude of recreational activities.
If you're looking to do some low-key hiking, there are 3.5 miles of hiking trails winding through the park, in addition to the Bugline Trail, a 16-mile asphalt trail which begins in Menomonee Falls, passes through Lisbon Community Park, and heads onward to North Lake. The trail is open to both bicycles and pedestrian traffic. My favorite walking trail was along the winding prairie trail. Several benches and picnic tables are available along the path. There were plenty of birds calling from high up in the surrounding trees, with Turkey Vultures circling overhead. It was lovely on a dreary early spring day. I expect it will be heavenly in late spring and throughout the summer. Perfect for a bit of bird watching.
There are activities available in the park throughout all seasons. Amenities include: five picnic areas, a small archery range, a Bark River access pier, fishing pier, softball fields, a soccer field, a football practice field, and a grass volleyball court. Some winter offerings include cross-country skiing, a sledding hill, an ice skating rink, and a snowmobile access trail.
The children's play area includes an ADA designed playground. Several open air pavilions are available for rental. Pit toilets are available on-site. Dogs are welcome in the park, but must be on-leash, and cleaned up after.
Admission: Free
Parking: Several parking lots are available throughout the park
Hours: Daily 6am - 9pm
Location: N78W26970 Bartlett Parkway, Hartland, WI (Waukesha County)
