olbrich botanical gardens - madison, wi
We visited Olbrich Botanical Gardens in early spring, as we were weary of a long winter. The tropical vibe inside the Bolz Conservatory was just what we needed. Luscious, colorful, tropical blooms surrounded us. The splashing sound of waterfalls and fountains conjured fantasies of a warm, breezy paradise. Exotic pitcher plants, fragrant orchids, and free-flying birds enhanced the experience.
There is an Admission charge for the conservatory of $6. Children 5 and under enter for Free.
Although the surrounding Outdoor Gardens were just starting to see bits of wildflowers pop up in the landscape, it's faded winter palette was quite lovely. I especially loved the stands of birch trees dotting the landscape. There are several specialty gardens throughout, including a Perennial Garden, Herb Garden, and Sunken Garden. A highlight of the grounds is the Thai Pavilion and Garden. The Thai Pavilion is the only one in the continental United States. You can stroll the Outdoor Gardens for Free year-round. It's a beautiful, peaceful space to wander, and enjoy during all seasons.
There are special events sponsored here throughout the year, and the facilities are available for rental as well.
