Mangan Woods - greendale, WI

Just when you think you've heard of (if not seen) all the Milwaukee County Parks, you discover another.  Mangan Woods runs parallel to Whitnall Park/Boerner Botanical Gardens.  My husband stumbled upon it (on the Urban Wilderness blog), and we decided to check it out. There are several trail access points, but we entered via the parking lot off 92nd Street, at the archery range.  Part of the Forked Aster Hiking Trail System, there are a little over two miles of hiking trails here that meander over hills, boardwalk and small bridges.  The trails are nicely plotted out for hikers and mountain bikers alike.  I'm looking forward to walking the trail again this fall, under the color of autumn leaves.
