new life lavender & cherry farm - baraboo, wi
I'm a big fan of lavender plants, their beauty, their scent, and their botanical uses. So, when a friend asked if I wanted to take a trip to Baraboo to visit a lavender farm I was in! This past weekend we drove to visit the New Life Lavender & Cherry Farm.
This 40-acre farm was developed as a labor of love by the McReynolds family when they moved from Kansas to Wisconsin several years ago for a fresh start. Looking for something healing, and sustainable, they opted to start a lavender and cherry tree farm. What began with 600 cherry trees (7 varieties), and 4,000 lavender plants, has grown to over 800 cherry trees, and 10,000 lavender plants, of over 25 varieties.
In addition, they have an 8-acre wildflower garden, walking trails on the grounds, and they offer guided tours of the grounds and the facilities where they explain the workings of the farm, and more.
They also have a shop where they sell products made with their harvested lavender, including foods, teas, lotions, and other body care products. They even have a farm-to-table kitchen where you can feast on cherry pie, lavender infused lattes, and more.
The farm is open for visits and tours beginning in June, through October 2. The lavender was in full bloom when we visited this early July, and should bloom through early-to-mid August. Admission to the grounds is $5 per person (children under 5 visit for free). Guided tours are $12 per person.
Location: E10766 Co. Rd. W, Baraboo, WI (Sauk County)
