Emma Carlin Trail - Palmyra, WI
The Emma Carlin Trail System is one of the most popular trail systems in the Kettle Moraine Southern Unit. It features 3 different loops: a 3.5 mile, a 6 mile, and an 8 mile loop. In addition, the Ice Age Trail passes through as well. I've only done the 3.5 mile (brown) loop so far. It was beautiful, and a workout to boot! There's no shortcut out, so just be sure to leave yourself plenty of daylight for whichever loop you take.
The trail is a popular single-track mountain biking trail. The trails are hilly and rated difficult. For more details on mountain biking this trail, click here.
There is ample parking, a rest stop building with pit toilets, and clearly marked trails.
Just down the road from Emma Carlin is Stute Springs Nature Trail. One of my favorites as well.
Location: Co. Road Z, just south of Hwy 59, Palmyra, WI (Jefferson County)
